DJ Johnson

The Krewe of Krampus is pleased to announce that DJ Johnson will be the Krewe’s honorary Saint Nicholas for 2021.

DJ, who was born and raised in New Orleans, attended McMain High School and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems and a Master’s in Business Administration. In 2005 he co-founded The Price Foundation, which focused on educational and positive youth development for teenagers within New Orleans and the surrounding areas. The foundation provided mentoring and tutorial services, recreational activities, and community services. After 2009, DJ initiated a program at Drew Charter High School in Atlanta, Georgia that focused on ending ethnic underrepresentation in STEM college programs by encouraging high school students to explore the world of business technology.

From 1999 to 2019, DJ served as a 20-year employee of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) where he became Chief of the Infrastructure Management Services Branch. During his tenure at the FDIC he was recognized for introducing new tools and techniques that expanded the current knowledge and theory on banking technologies.

After relocating back to New Orleans, to care for his Mother, DJ was committed to providing his hometown with access to books, art, music, and a safe, inclusive space that promotes self-exploration for people.

Baldwin & Co.

Currently, he is the owner of Baldwin & Co. coffee shop and bookstore, New Orleans Art Bar, the former Gene’s Po’boy building, and a real estate development firm in Atlanta called FAML LLC. After relocating back to New Orleans, to care for his Mother, DJ was committed to providing his hometown with access to books, art, music, and a safe, inclusive space that promotes self-exploration for people.

DJ is also a valuable partner in the Krewe of Krampus literacy initiative called Krampus Reads. The Krewe of Krampus partnered with Baldwin & Company to bring a story time to this area as part of the Krampus Reads literacy program. When the Krewe founders met with DJ and proposed coming together to create a twice-monthly story time it became the perfect partnership. Krampus Reads is solely staffed by a team of dedicated volunteers and is the yearlong community outreach for the Krewe.
